Canary Islands authorities are planning to limit the number of tourists
The authorities of the Canaries intend to introduce a quota for the tourists. The new head of the government of islands Fernando Clavijo plans to take control of tourist flows. This is due to the fact that in 2014 Canary Islands were visited by 13 million travelers and tourism revenues reached 30% of GDP of the region.
According to the premier extensive growth of tourism reserves have been exhausted so we need to introduce quotas to visit Canary Islands. He believes that it is necessary to develop not quantitative but qualitative tourism which will bring to an autonomous region of Spain more revenue and allow to monitor the ecological situation in the region more.
